The original article (第一篇文章: 關於這裡) was written in Traditional Chinese. Below is the version translated by AI.
1. Who am I
I came from Taiwan, a software engineer who enjoys thinking about and attempting to predict the future of the world.
You can visit my GitHub, WordPress, and Facebook pages.
2. Why I Started this Substack
Since the release of ChatGPT on November 30, 2022, I immediately recognized it as a significant event that could change the world, comparable to historical events like the Industrial Revolution, the invention of the computer, and the advent of the Internet. I began extensively reading the latest articles related to AI.
My English isn't good enough, but I've always wanted to improve and read first-hand English articles. However, there's just too much new knowledge about AI lately. I can't read fast enough and can't fully understand the content. While I strive to improve my English skills, as we all know, learning a new language is a slow process. Knowing that the development of AI translation is much faster than my learning pace, I've decided to stop pushing to improve my English skills and make good use of AI translation functions to connect with the English-speaking world.
After much reading, I have many thoughts about possible recent developments and the future world. I've never seen anyone share similar views. Wanting to give back and share with like-minded folks in the English-speaking world, I decided to establish this Substack.
3. What I Want to Write
I like to use past and present information to try to infer and predict the short-term and long-term future, especially regarding the development of AI. Predictions are often proven wrong, but I'm always willing to update my forecasts based on the latest information, without insisting on past failed predictions. My predictions might lean towards pessimism, but I like to be psychologically prepared for the worst possibilities at all times.
I believe that AI acceleration will rise in all aspects of the world. Whether this is good or bad for the long-term future of humanity is still hard to predict. Many people have already expressed their polarized optimistic and pessimistic views on the future. If my inference and prediction yield new insights that I don't see others writing about, I'll publish articles. I hope to interact with everyone and understand your thoughts on my predictions. If you have similar or completely opposing views, please let me know. I am happy to read, comprehend, and potentially update my predictions accordingly.
I also wish to write about firsthand experiences and perspectives as a Taiwanese person caught between US and China. Perhaps, I may also write about critical thoughts on faith from a Christian's perspective.
4. How I Will Write
The content of my articles comes entirely from my own thinking, written manually in Traditional Chinese without AI assistance, with AI later aiding the translation process. All articles will be released separately in both their original Traditional Chinese version and in an English translation. I won't write regularly, only publishing when I have new thoughts or predictions. My articles should all be brief, simply outlining the reasoning process and the final prediction, allowing you to grasp the essence without having to spend much time reading.
Thank you for reading this far. If you're also interested in unique perspectives on AI development and predictions about the future world, feel free to subscribe for free to receive new articles and support my continued writing.
